How to Create Awesome Lead Tracking Forms for Your Site
There are a bazillion form tools out their for WordPress.
Some are great and some are bloated updated messes.
When we started our plugins (landing pages, leads, and CTA) we hooked into existing form tools to handle our lead tracking. It quickly got out of hand with some form tools not following some basic coding best practices and we decided to build our own form tool.
Core tenants we followed in the development process of inbound forms:
- Ease of use
- No Bloat – lightweight form tool that just works
- Give Design Options – let people customize!
- Track Everything – lead tracking and followup is key!
What does the Form Tool look like?
This is the create form interface for inbound forms. We wanted to keep it as simple as possible for people to get in, create a form, and get on with their lives.
You name your form, add a redirect url, an email to get notified, then your form fields and thats it. Remember ease of use is key.
Copy/Duplicate Forms Easily
Bake forms very very very quickly with premade form templates or out of existing forms you have already built.
We wanted a way for users to not have to recreate the wheel everytime a form is built.
Drag and Drop Form Fields
Drag and drop your form fields and imediately see the live preview of what the change looks like.
We think visual feedback is very important for a solid user experience.
A great deal of other form tools we have used in the past lacked basic design options for the forms. Unless you were a CSS/HTML wiz kid you weren’t able to make customizations to the form.
We added layout options, label alignment options, font size, and even icons to the submit buttons. There are over 450+ different icons to use in your submit button to give it a little more flare.
Insert Forms Anywhere
Once your form is configured, you can copy the shortcode and insert it anywhere in your site.
Or insert using the Inbound Now Power Icon in your editor
You can insert existing forms quickly into pages/posts/landing pages or quickly spin up a new form directly from that same screen.
No more fumbling around the wordpress admin to build forms and copy/paste shortcodes into pages. Do it all at once, quickly and easily.
Gather Powerful Analytics
When you are using inbound forms you are automagically storing lead intelligence.
You can see:
– where people are converting from.
– Demographic information
– Employment data
– Any website associated with their email address
– Every Single page view/activity tracked on the site
– and interests pulled from the Klout API
